DOUG REALLY IS TOP DOG
pug named most heroic hound –
LOCAL celebrity Doug the Pug Therapy Dog has been recognised with a prestigious award in London.
Doug was one of four dogs who was awarded with the ‘Most Heroic Hound Award’ at the National Pet Show at ExCel London over the weekend. The pug has been lauded for helping children and adults with problems such as anxiety and low self-confidence.
Owner Cate Archer, from Beaconsfield, said: “The two days at The National Pet Show ExCeL went really well. It was so incredibly busy, so full on and packed with pet lovers, despite the fabulous weather over the weekend.”
She added: “The award day felt very special – and both days were great fun too.”
According to Cate, Doug loved his commute and the attention and took everything in his stride, especially during the events in the Kid’s Zone, where the duo talked about the work Doug does, and they managed to sell hundreds of books over the two days.
PDSA presented the award in the SuperDogs Live theatre to an audience of more than 500 people, and TV presenter Michaela Strachan was also part of the award ceremony.
Cate said: “I feel so proud that Doug’s benevolent good work and warm heart has received recognition.”
Doug will be at The Pet Show in Warwickshire, on July 23 and 24, The National Pet Show in Birmingham, on November 5 and 6, and at the Chesham Bois fete on Saturday June 11. Tom Herbert by email@example.com Twitter: @TRHerbert
