THAMES VALLEY CRICKET LEAGUE DIVISION ONE Windsor .........................................................178-6 Chesham ....................................................... 117-3 Chesham win by seven wickets (Duckworth-Lewis method) A WIN at Windsor via the Duckworth-Lewis method saw Chesham retain their leadership of Thames Valley Cricket League Division One on Saturday.

Having won the toss, Chesham asked Windsor to bat and set about them with some tight bowling, although rain brought their innings to a halt at 178-6 in the 49th over, the wickets shared between Ashley Turney, Pip France, Umar Aslam and Jason Rance.

After a break of nearly two hours, Chesham were set a revised target of 116 in 20 overs, and Mark Eteen (14), Matt Rance (25) and brother Jason (25) all batted positively before a fourth wicket partnership of 42 between Andy Goddard (15no) and Luke Webb (27no) sealed victory at 117-3, with nearly three overs to spare.

Rain washed out the 2nds’ match with Finchampstead with Chesham on 147-7 in the 47th over, after Ollie Turner, who top scored with a hard hit 44, and Matt Watson, with an undefeated 30, had rescued them from a perilous early position of 9-3.

The rain also robbed the 3rds of almost certain victory over Hillingdon after Steve Ayres bowled them out for a paltry total of 63, taking 6-15.

Chesham were 12 without loss in reply before the heavens opened.

The previously table topping 4ths had their first taste of defeat at Chalfont St Peter when, chasing 206 for victory, they were dismissed for 140, despite skipper Wade Mahmood’s hard fought 46.
