Birth­day con­cert to reign supreme

PEO­PLE are be­ing in­vited to cel­e­brate the Queen’s of­fi­cial birth­day by at­tend­ing a con­cert this week­end.

Amer­sham Town Coun­cil has or­gan­ised a Queen’s 90th Birth­day Con­cert to take place in the Memo­rial Gar­dens in Old Amer­sham on Sun­day (June 12) from 2pm to 5pm.

The Amer­sham Mu­sic Cen­tre will open pro­ceed­ings be­fore vo­cal­ist Vanessa Bow­ers and pi­anist She­lia Cor­nall doc­u­ment the Queen’s life through song – from her par­ents fall­ing in love, her child­hood and re­silience dur­ing the Sec­ond World War, her coro­na­tion and more.

There will then be a Royal Bri­tish Le­gion ser­vice be­fore the Ayles­bury Con­cert Band play the fi­nal set which cul­mi­nates in a ‘last night at the Proms’ fi­nale with lots of flag wav­ing and singing. The con­cert, which is in aid De­men­tia UK, will close at 5pm with a dove re­lease.

Cream teas will be avail­able through­out the af­ter­noon while mem­bers of the Amer­sham So­ci­ety will be serv­ing cakes from the past nine decades.

Amer­sham Town Coun­cil will also be of­fi­cially open­ing the 2016 Memo­rial Gar­dens dis­play at the event, which in­cludes a three me­ter high crown and a flo­ral stamp. 2.30pm to 3.10pm - Amer­sham Mu­sic Cen­tre 3.10pm - Open­ing of the event by Amer­sham’s mayor Makr Vivis

5pm - Dove re­lease
