MINHAS MISSES PANJAB PEN
BEACONSFIELD SYCOB midfielder Aaron Minhas (pictured) missed the crucial penalty as the Panjab lost the Conifa World Cup Final on Sunday.
The Panjab, who have only been playing international football for a year, were leading host ‘nation’ Abkhazia until the final two minutes before shipping an equaliser, and then lost the shoot-out 6-5.
The team were taking part in their first Conifa World Cup, which is for states, minorities, stateless peoples and regions unaffiliated with FIFA.
After beating Sapmi 1-0 and Somaliland 5-0 in the group stages, the Panjab edged past Western Armenia 3-2 in the quarters and Padania 1-0 in the semis to set the stage for their final heartache.
