TRUST WISDOM OF ELDERLY AND LEAVE
GEORGE J.C. MEACOCK, B.A., B.A,I., M.A. Chalfont St Peter
MR Cameron mentioned the rows of headstones on the battlefields of Europe, each representing a life of our finest youth, who gallantly gave their all to save us from ever being dominated by a foreign power, intending that our parliament should rule Britain.
Knowing of Magna Carta, and the history by which our government was for the people by the consent of the people through democratic election, they would not have contemplated any other future.
It is bad enough that our rulers have betrayed us since we joined the common market free trading area, by allowing its creeping replacement by an EU political system lacking any semblance of democratic accountability.
How those trying to persuade us to continue this federalism, regarded by many, as bordering on treasonable disregard for the gallantry of our war heroes, will be able to contemplate taking part in Remembrance Day celebrations next November and say ‘we will remember them’ is beyond comprehension.
Obama was elected to the Democratic Party in the USA, which on democratic grounds persuaded us to grant independence to our former colonies.
So, how can he urge us to be submerged in the worst modern example of undemocratic dominance of our age?
How can other EU members support such a system that wastes financial resources of all its members in such an unaccountable way?
True Brits will always honour our fallen and wounded of two world wars and others since, whatever the cost of keeping faith with them. Anyone who is prepared to vote remain, and ignore their sacrifice for our independence is beneath contempt.
Forget the economic arguments. We will survive with honour only if we vote leave in June.
I shall turn 84 before I vote to leave. Trust the wisdom of the elderly experienced members of our society!
