Euro­pean ru­ral grant pro­gramme Leader makes two new ap­point­ments

THE Euro­pean Union funded ru­ral grant pro­gramme Leader, which is de­signed to sup­port ru­ral busi­nesses to cre­ate jobs and sup­port the ru­ral econ­omy, has an­nounced the ap­point­ment of two new mem­bers to its team.

Luke Faulkner is the new Leader pro­gramme man­ager and Will Dal­limore joins as the Leader project of­fi­cer for North and West Northants and Clay Vales area.

Am­ber Kelly is al­ready in place as project of­fi­cer for the Chilterns.

Mr Faulkner said: “I’m de­lighted to take up the role of pro­gramme man­ager and aim to fol­low the high stan­dards of de­liv­ery set by Mike Fur­ness. I’m con­fi­dent we have a firm ba­sis in place with the new ap­point­ments to de­velop the pro­gramme fur­ther and ben­e­fit the ru­ral econ­omy.”

The Leader pro­gramme has been run­ning across Eng­land for more than 10 years and a new round of grant fund­ing is now op­er­at­ing for 2015 to 2019.

Ru­ral busi­nesses across the Chilterns can now ap­ply for grants of up to £50,000. The grants are ad­min­is­tered by Ngage So­lu­tions, on be­half of the Leader Lo­cal Ac­tion Groups.

The Leader pro­gramme is de­signed to pro­mote busi­ness growth, par­tic­u­larly the growth of mi­cro and small busi­nesses.

It is fo­cused on ru­ral ar­eas sup­port­ing small ru­ral com­pa­nies, farm di­ver­si­fi­ca­tion projects, forestry projects, tourism projects, ru­ral ser­vices and cul­tural and her­itage projects.
