Hill’s Daluwatta makes massive impact in first game
SURANGA Daluwatta made his first appearance of the season for Ley Hill on Saturday and made an immediate impact, bowling 9.4 overs and taking 4-6 in a dazzling spell.
Opponents Bradenham were in trouble in the very first over when Craig Ottaway, who went on to take 2-15, struck with only his second ball, before the Hill were helped by two run outs – one a direct hit on the stumps from the boundary by Douglas Petrie.
Bradenham had been reduced to 62-6 by the time Daluwatta entered the fray and he helped mop up the tail and bowl them out for 98.
In reply, Hill’s openers, Ollie Runswick (50no) and Craig Peterson (31) shared an opening stand of 79 before Justin Hutchins (14no) came in to score the final runs needed.
The 2nds had a tremendous victory away at Prestwood, where they had collapsed to 61-5 before Ghulam Mustapha and Kevin Phillips shared a seventh wicket stand of 103 – with Phillips only getting 14 of them.
Mustapha hit the bowlers all over the place with six fours and 11 sixes to end on a total of 106 as the Hill posted 192-9, with Naj Riaz taking 3-23 and John Humpreys 2-32 for Prestwood.
Riaz then top scored for Prestwood with an attacking 34, while Ross Davies made 22, before both fell to in-form Michael Morris, who took 3-26. With Mike Adams also taking 3-43, and Phillips chipping in with 2-1 in nine balls at the end, Prestwood were all out for 98.
