Damp squibs Chesham lose their unbeaten record

Buckinghamshire Advertiser - - SPORT -

Another pulsating finish saw the 2nds beat North Maidenhead by a single wicket off the penultimate ball, although had Chesham not let their visitors off the hook at 25-5, it would never have got that far.

Maidenhead eventually reached 210-9, Peter Clifford taking 6-56, before a strong opening partnership of 65 between Brendan O’Donovan (30) and Tom Free (33) was followed by a 63 between Chris Hedges (17) and Ed Turner (43).

The innings then subsided to 183-9 with only two overs remaining, before powerful hitting by Jack Gibbins (42no) and Jamie Anderson saw their side home with a ball to spare.

But the 3rds lost by three wickets to Cranbourne, despite Graham Rance’s unbeaten 69 and Joseph Rance’s 3-34, while a valiant rearguard innings by young Raheem Mohammed earned the 4ths a draw against Farnham Royal.

In Division 2a, struggling Chenies & Latimer lost by seven wickets to Maidenhead & Bray, while in 2b, Beaconsfield went down by 61 runs to Wargrave.
