Mean­while, men’s cap­tain Paul Vaughan at­tracted a huge field of 143 to his Cap­tain’s Day on Satur­day, when for­mer club cap­tain Ian Terry won the stable­ford com­pe­ti­tion.

Terry shot an ex­cel­lent 40 points, one more than sec­ond-placed Char­lie Wells, while third, on count­back, was Matthew Cox with 38.

Else­where, Harewood young­ster Daisy Kennedy came fifth in the 1314 years age cat­e­gory in the Girls’ Euro­pean Cham­pi­onships at Gul­lane, near Ed­in­burgh, with an ex­cep­tional plus 15 score over three rounds in gale force winds.

Fi­nally, the Ladies’ Hand­i­cap, played over 27 holes, was won by Pat Milliner, with a nett score of 114, ahead of Helen Au­daer in sec­ond, with 116, and Julie Blake, who took third place on count back with 118.
