Mosque welcomes community to learn about Ramadan
Members of the community of all faiths and no faiths were invited to join local Muslims on the evening of Thursday June 9 to break their fast and to observe how Ramadan is conducted.
There was a tour of the mosque and then a talk took place entitled Vision and Values, which explored ways to create a fairer society together.
The panel of speakers included Muslim Faisal Iqbal and Reverend Anne Ellis and there was time for everyone to listen, share and talk. The event was organised by Beyond Difference, in conjunction with the Chesham Mosque Committee.
Beyond Difference is a group of people from many faiths and no faiths who are interested in finding common ground between different beliefs, sharing knowledge and developing trust and understanding in order to promote harmony in the community.
The group meets every second month at different places, often in a religious venue, to learn about that particular belief.
This year, Ramadan started on Monday June 6 and will finish on Tuesday July 5.
Eid-al-Fitr will take place on Wednesday July 6.
