GREAT EVENT BUT NEEDS FOOT TRAFFIC PLANS

Buckinghamshire Advertiser - - OPINION - MIKE SMITH via email

LAST Saturday’s Chesham Carnival was, as is always the case, very well supported and most enjoyable.

There is however one issue that does need addressing.

Long after the procession through the town had finished, traffic was still backed up on the hill towards Amersham because the zebra crossings between the town centre and the afternoon’s activities in Lowndes Park were in constant and continual use, and quite rightly so, by pedestrians going to and fro.

Would it not be possible, on this one occasion, to operate a system akin to those applied outside some schools in the morning and afternoon so that foot traffic can be stopped occasionally to allow a few vehicles through?
