Gar­den date for vice chair­man

NEWLY elected Bucks county coun­cil vice chair­man Pa­tri­cia Birch­ley car­ried out her first en­gage­ment in Bea­cons­field.

Pa­tri­cia at­tended the sum­mer gar­den party of Univer­sal Care, which pro­vides care at home for older and vul­ner­a­ble peo­ple, on Tues­day.

She was cab­i­net mem­ber for health and well-be­ing from 2010 to 2015, and was pre­sented with the chain of of­fice at the coun­cil’s an­nual gen­eral meet­ing on Thurs­day, May 26.

She said: “As our pop­u­la­tion gets in­creas­ingly older, it is ever more im­per­a­tive to help peo­ple to en­joy their in­de­pen­dence and re­main at home with the sup­port and care they need to live ac­tive and so­cia­ble lives.”

As vice chair­man, she will sup­port new chair­man Val Letheren, who rep­re­sents Chiltern Ridges Divi­sion and be­came a county coun­cil­lor in 2005.

New role: Cllr Pa­tri­cia Birch­ley vis­ited Univer­sal Care’s party in Bea­cons­field.
