Golfers putt £3,800 into char­ity funds at se­niors day

AL­MOST £4,000 was raised for char­ity at the Oak­land Park Golf Club Se­niors’ Cap­tain’s Day at Oak­land Park Golf Club last Thurs­day.

Spon­sors, raf­fles, auc­tions and do­na­tions on the day raised £3,800 for the Pep­per Foun­da­tion, which pro­vides hospice-at-home care for life­lim­ited chil­dren.

On the course, Bob Steel won the sta­ble­ford tour­na­ment with 42 points, fol­lowed by Steven James with 39, Richard Nightin­gale with 38 and Richard Cranston with 36.

Event spon­sors Ssang Yong even pro­vided a Tivoli car as a prize to any se­nior hitting a hole in one on the day, but no­body was able to man­age the feat.
