Double delight as twins make discus final at Nationals
CHESHAM Prep School had an outstanding day at the London Region athletics meeting – with seven pupils qualifying for the National Finals in eight events.
A select group of youngsters from years five to eight travelled to Eton to compete against the best schools in the region, and came up with the best Chesham Prep performance in recent memory.
Top of the class was Harriet Beeby Wynn, who set a new London meeting record in the 70m hurdles and was awarded the Heather Garside Memorial Trophy for outstanding girls’ performance.
She also qualified in the discus, and will compete at the Nationals in Birmingham alongside twins Theo and Millie Russell, who also qualified in the discus. Chesham’s other qualifiers were Olivia Edwards (1500m), Georgina Beeby Wynn (high jump), Daisy Bouchier (shot) and Amelia Brownsell (hurdles).
Even those who missed out on the Nationals were busy beating age group school records, including Joshua Oakley and Freddie Bateson (both 800m) and Oliver Wilkinson (long jump).
