Olympic theme for Beaconsfield’s annual day of fun and races
The 17th annual Beaconsfield Donkey Derby took place on Saturday (June 25) and this year the event had the introduction of an Olympic theme.
An Olympic torch parade opening ceremony opened the racing along with Olympics inspired sports challenges.
The star attraction, donkey racing with Tote Betting, saw seven races with seven donkeys which took place at half hour intervals with donkeys ridden bareback by youngsters.
The special Olympic sports challenges for 2016 included long jump, netball, golf, playball, tug of war, Wimbledon tennis warm-up and Wycombe Wanderers football.
Fun attractions for children included bouncy castles, Stagecoach dance lessons, a find the donkey competition, a donkey hunt, a fire engine, a tombola, raffle and more
There was also lots of side shows and stalls including hook-a-duck, roll the dice, lucky cups, play your cards right, nails and tattoos, donkey pat, donkey splash, donkey snap, strong man striker, target practice and henna hand painting.
Food and refreshments were also on offer including a beer tent and barbecue.
The event was organised jointly by St Mary and All Saints School PTA and the Beaconsfield Lions Club and was sponsored by local businesses and Hamptons International.
All Proceeds are in aid of St Mary and All Saints School, Beaconsfield Lions Club and local charities.
