five-wicket win to keep them top of the Mid Bucks Premier.

Opening bowler Craig Ottaway struck with only his second ball, getting Nick Graham caught behind without a run on the board, and while it was the only wicket Ottaway claimed, his frugal seven-over spell of 1-10 provided a great platform.

Chris Morris took 2-24 and Suranga Daluwatta 4-17, while Lewis Thompson’s baffling leg-spin left him with figures of 2-15. Wicket-keeper Nick Lee took three catches, skipper Craig Peterson two and Callum Wilson defied gravity to take a marvellous diving effort.

The Hill lost opener Justin Hutchins with only six on the board, but at the other end Peterson kept his cool to make 36, including a stand of 63 with Lewis Thompson (28), before being caught at square leg and Lee came in to score the winning runs.

The 2nds, meanwhile, got themselves into a winning position against Aylesbury 2nds, only for the game to be called off after a torrential downpour. Craig Rinsell, in his first match of the season, scored 45no as they posted 187, before reducing Aylesbury to 30-3 after 20 overs – but then the rain came and turned the square into a lake.

James Lagdon top-scored with 35 as the 3rds set Cadmore End a winning target of 150, which, as one would expects with a first XI playing against a third, they comfortably reached.
