Hill 2nds in crucial battle to save face
bowling a tidy spell, but the hosts reached 224-7 before declaring.
The Hill’s innings started badly, with Sam Bugden out for five, but Russell Thompson (32) and Ron Hedley (25) added 55 before a bowling change saw Thompson dismissed with the new bowler’s first ball and Telford with his fourth.
Hedley was then brilliantly run out by a direct throw and the Hill innings was in tatters. Alastir Rae added 22, but it was left to the lower order to bat out for a draw, as Hill finished on 159-8.
It was not good news for the first team either, who lost by 145 runs to Braywood in Division One, despite Vijay Natarajan’s 4-54, but Great Kingshill moved away from the danger zone after beating Chalfont St Giles 2nds by four wickets, Mark Mackenzie-Crooks hitting 55 and George Lasseter taking 3-19.
Mike Widdowson, who took all 10 wickets in a game two weeks ago, claimed 5-45 this time as Knotty Green went top of Division Three with a five-wicket win over Coleshill 2nds, but The Lee lost by 15 runs to Little Marlow.
Bottom side Denham won their first game of the season at the 10th attempt in Division One, beating Littlewick Green by one wicket, but are still 19 points adrift of secondbottom Coleshill, who held on for a draw against Chalfont St Giles, for whom Chris Cross took 5-35.
