‘Mi­grants’ on lorry roof

THREE men be­lieved to be mi­grants have been found on the roof of a lorry.

Po­lice were called af­ter three men were seen es­cap­ing onto the roof at Bea­cons­field ser­vices.

Fire­fight­ers had to use a lad­der to save them on Tues­day (July 5) at about 10.04am and one ap­pli­ance and crew from Bea­cons­field at­tended.

Pete Skin­ner, watch com­man­der at Bea­cons­field Fire Sta­tion, said the po­lice were work­ing on the as­sump­tion the men are mi­grants and have been taken away to be pro­cessed.

He added: “There are un­con­firmed re­ports that there were five peo­ple and two peo­ple had dis­ap­peared prior to their ar­rival.”

A Thames Val­ley Po­lice spokesper­son said: “Of­fi­cers were called [Tues­day] morn­ing to Bea­cons­field ser­vices at 9.49am. There were re­ports that a group of peo­ple were climb­ing out of a lorry.

“The fire ser­vice also at­tended be­cause three of them had made their way to the roof.

“We have man­aged to get hold of the three peo­ple on top of the lorry and they are now be­ing dealt with by im­mi­gra­tion.”
