‘Migrants’ on lorry roof
THREE men believed to be migrants have been found on the roof of a lorry.
Police were called after three men were seen escaping onto the roof at Beaconsfield services.
Firefighters had to use a ladder to save them on Tuesday (July 5) at about 10.04am and one appliance and crew from Beaconsfield attended.
Pete Skinner, watch commander at Beaconsfield Fire Station, said the police were working on the assumption the men are migrants and have been taken away to be processed.
He added: “There are unconfirmed reports that there were five people and two people had disappeared prior to their arrival.”
A Thames Valley Police spokesperson said: “Officers were called [Tuesday] morning to Beaconsfield services at 9.49am. There were reports that a group of people were climbing out of a lorry.
“The fire service also attended because three of them had made their way to the roof.
“We have managed to get hold of the three people on top of the lorry and they are now being dealt with by immigration.”
