Head over heels for school jubilee fair

Buckinghamshire Advertiser - - NEWS -

AROUND 500 people flocked to Davenies School as they held their first jubilee fair to conclude its 75th anniversary celebrations.

The fair, organised by parents and The Friends of Davenies, raised more than £6,000 to be shared between The Teenage Cancer Trust, Water Aid and the Friends of Davenies.

Held on the school fields and around the school, parents, pupils and the local community were able to take part in climbing, gymnastic and street dance displays and a petting zoo.

Along with a barbecue, Pimms and prosecco, visitors enjoyed music from the school’s hand bell group, jazz band and the recently formed jubilee choir made up of parents and staff.

Headteacher Carl Rycroft said: “It was a great event and a good way of bringing the Davenies community together. As a by-product we have raised money for charity and provided a good opportunity for the wider local community to enjoy an afternoon at Davenies.”
