Keogh’s maiden century ensures St Peter victory
Scoring his first century in any kind of cricket, Keogh eventually finished on 110 not out, but they were not the only hot shots.
Put into bat, Chalfont lost a wicket in the first over, but Sam Symons (56) and Murray Scott (51) found the pitch and lightning fast outfield to their liking and put on 110 in 16 overs before both fell to catches off Harefield’s leg spinner.
Batting at five, Keogh played sensibly while maintaining the scoring rate and was ably supported by Justin Weller (23) and Steve Holdship (26 not out), and as a declaration loomed, he accelerated to get to his century and celebrated by hitting the last ball of the innings for six.
Chalfont declared on a formidable looking 284-5 and Harefield were never in the running.
All the bowlers chipped in, with leg spinner Joe Stokes-Neustadt returning personal best figures of 3-34, while Symons made the most of his one over, taking two wickets in as many balls for no runs, as Harefield succumbed for 140.
But the tables were turned in Division 5a, where Chalfont’s 1sts went down by eight wickets to Harefield’s 3rds, despite knocks of 55 from Jerry Sewell and 43 from Saqib Ahmed.
