Assaults on police rise by more than 30%
ASSAULTS on police officers are up by more than 30% in a year in Thames Valley.
There were 689 incidences of ‘assault without injury on a constable’ recorded by Thames Valley police in 2015/16, up 31 per cent from 528 in 2014/15, one of the biggest rises in England and Wales.
Police officers also reported 214 assaults with injuries to HR in 2015/16.
Across England and Wales, there were 7,903 assaults involving injury reported to force health and safety teams by officers in 2015/16, and 270 reported by PCSOs (excluding the British Transport Police).
