Gymnastics girls celebrating double county champion titles
CHALFONT Gymnastics Academy can now boast two county champions, as well as other medalists, following a successful return to the Bucks County In and Out of Age competition.
A squad of eight girls, coached by Lee Fearn, travelled to Milton Keynes to take part, the first time in five years Chalfont had sent a team to the tournament.
In a high field of gymnasts, the results were outstanding, and all the girls qualified for the southern region competition, which takes place at the end of September.
Newly crowned county champion Imogen Rowan excelled herself over the four pieces in the level three senior category, taking both the allaround gold with a fantastic final score and the gold medal on the vault.
In the same round, Daisy Barrows took the overall silver and landed the gold medal on floor, achieving the highest score of the whole day.
In level four senior, Lily Little took both overall gold and first place on the bars, while Emily Totty, recovering from a recent injury, brushed off any concerns to take home bronze overall.
In level four junior, Isabel Whitburn grabbed gold on vault and bronze on bars, while Kate Hardy, who was competing for the first time, took bronze on the beam.
Another competing for the first time, Hannah Olivier, achieved a fantastic score on the floor while Amelie Yalden, competing in level five junior, claimed bronze on both the floor and beam, adding to Chalfont’s overall medal haul.
The club will now be focusing on training for the Southern Region competition, which encompasses a large number of clubs from the southern counties of the UK.
