New-look United take trophy

Buckinghamshire Advertiser - - NEWS -

CHESHAM United Ladies came away from the Touringsport 11 v 11 Summer Tournament with the winners trophy last weekend.

Boasting a new-look backline of Di Killey, Livvi Harris, Annie Burns and new signing Gemma Darvill, protecting Lucia Masella in goal, Chesham put four goals past Ascot in their first match, Gemma Fraser bagging two while Katie Squire and Laura Barton netted one each.

A goalless draw with Maidenhead’s first team was followed by a 3-1 win over Maidenhead’s development side, thanks to strikes from Barton Fraser and Darvill, while Masella saved a penalty as Chesham beat Brentford 1-0 in their final game to top their group.

Fraser lashed home the winner in the semi-final against Brentwood, pitching Chesham against the Maidenhead first team again in the final, which was settled by a cheeky lob from Tash Smith, who had spotted the keeper off her line.

Chesham’s new backline snuffed out anything thrown at them while Masella tidied up behind them to seal victory for Chesham.

Meanwhile, any primary school girls interested in playing for Chesham United Girls should go to the contact page of the website (www. culfc.co.uk) to register their interest for coming season.
