AMERSHAM Bowls Club en­joyed a dou­ble vic­tory over Loud­wa­ter on Satur­day, beat­ing them in the Chiltern & Thames League and then in a friendly for good mea­sure.

In the league match, de­spite only win­ning one triple, thanks to the ef­forts of Mar­garet Sher­lock, David Balder­son and Jim Saun­ders, and los­ing two, Amersham ran out over­all win­ners 53-45. The friendly, a mixed triple which was a some­what closer af­fair, was won by Mar­ian Hext, Joy Spicer and Neal Evi­son 13-12.

Wins on two rinks, in­clud­ing a high­est scor­ing ef­fort from Val New­ton, El­iz­a­beth Gil­lott and Diana Bas­sett, and de­feat on the other meant a 56-42 over­all win for Amersham ‘s ladies in their friendly against Flack­well Heath.

The men also tasted suc­cess in their friendly against Ger­rards Cross to­day over four triples, Amersham win­ning on three rinks of the four rinks and 68-60 over­all.

To com­plete a suc­cess­ful week, there was also a five-shot 66-61 friendly win over Rick­mansworth RBL.
