Pupils sure of a big end of term surprise
CHILDREN went down to a pre-school’s garden and received a big surprise.
The children, staff and parents of St Mary’s Pre-school in Chesham celebrated the end of term on Friday, July 15 with a teddy bears’ picnic in the garden.
As the children settled their teddy bears beside them on the picnic blankets, all present shared a feast provided by the parents, topped off with a home-made chocolate teddy bear cake.
It was a fond farewell to the children who are leaving this term, ready to scatter to various ‘big schools’ in September.
In common with hundreds of other St Mary’s Preschool children over more than three decades, they also took with them precious memories of their teachers and friends, and of happy times spent playing and exploring in the St Mary’s Church Rooms and the adjoining garden.
For the teachers and children who will be returning to the preschool in September, it was also a fond “goodbye for now” to St Mary’s Church Rooms.
During the refurbishment of the Church Rooms, which is due to begin over the summer, the preschool will be moving to a new temporary home at The Meadow, home to Chesham United Football Club.
Parents and children alike look forward to returning in September to a preschool which is the same, but different.
