LADIES LOSE OUT IN LAST EIGHT

Buckinghamshire Advertiser - - SPORT -

IT PROVED a case of so near yet so far for the ladies of Chalfont St Giles BC in their Burnham Plate quarter-final with Loudwater this week.

After a slow start St Giles’ quartet of Flora Alderton, Liz Baldwin, Lyn Carroll and Mo Harding built up a six-shot lead only for Loudwater to hit back and take the win 23-17.

There was better news in the latest Chiltern & Thames League game where Marlow were beaten for the second time this season, the 29-10 rink victory for Candi Ivey, Harding and Rob Kirby helping to secure a 63-52 win and eight points.

The Thames Valley League game played home and away against Cippenham was lost though, from which they earned just two points. The Three Counties League visit to holders Harefield Hospital BC proved equally challenging and despite two wins on the five rinks, including a 2715 success for Joyce Cripps, Brian Hedley, Dave Harding Ian McLeod, they went down 108-87. Meanwhile the week’s four friendlies saw wins over Gerrards Cross (54-35) and Wexham (92-50) balanced by losses to Uxbridge (71-60) and Wendover (118-75).
