Ballinger wagon rolls into se­cond thanks to 150 pair­ing

A STAND of 150 be­tween Richard O’Kelly and Danny Draper res­cued Ballinger Wag­goners against Braden­ham on Satur­day.

Re­ply­ing to Braden­ham’s 172-7, Ballinger were soon in trou­ble at 10-2, but Draper and O’Kelly set about their res­cue act with rel­ish, bring­ing up their cen­tury part­ner­ship in the 22nd over.

Their 150 fol­lowed six overs later, and just when it seemed the pair would finsh the job, O’Kelly fell for a su­perb 87, which in­cluded 16 fours and a six.

With just 13 runs needed for vic­tory, Ian Davies came and went swiftly be­fore Mac Maciver won the game with a bound­ary, while Draper re­mained un­beaten on 57, in­clud­ing 11 fours. Ear­lier, Davies was the pick of Ballinger bowlers with 3-29 from 10 overs.

The win saw Ballinger move up to se­cond place in the Mid Bucks Pre­mier, but some 43 points be­hind lead­ers Ley Hill, who had no game. Holmer Green, mean­while, best Wen­dover by six wick­ets to stay fourth.

Down in Di­vi­sion One, Prest­wood beat Fre­ith by 49 runs to stay fourth, but bot­tom club Chal­lon­ers lost by nine wick­ets to Wid­mer End, de­spite a knock of 93 from Char­lie Wood.
