Ballinger wagon rolls into second thanks to 150 pairing
A STAND of 150 between Richard O’Kelly and Danny Draper rescued Ballinger Waggoners against Bradenham on Saturday.
Replying to Bradenham’s 172-7, Ballinger were soon in trouble at 10-2, but Draper and O’Kelly set about their rescue act with relish, bringing up their century partnership in the 22nd over.
Their 150 followed six overs later, and just when it seemed the pair would finsh the job, O’Kelly fell for a superb 87, which included 16 fours and a six.
With just 13 runs needed for victory, Ian Davies came and went swiftly before Mac Maciver won the game with a boundary, while Draper remained unbeaten on 57, including 11 fours. Earlier, Davies was the pick of Ballinger bowlers with 3-29 from 10 overs.
The win saw Ballinger move up to second place in the Mid Bucks Premier, but some 43 points behind leaders Ley Hill, who had no game. Holmer Green, meanwhile, best Wendover by six wickets to stay fourth.
Down in Division One, Prestwood beat Freith by 49 runs to stay fourth, but bottom club Challoners lost by nine wickets to Widmer End, despite a knock of 93 from Charlie Wood.
