A real A- chievement as students get top results
Grades are best yet with many gaining places at first choice universities
SCHOOLS across Bucks celebrated their best set of A-level results yet on Thursday last week.
Year 13 students went into their respective schools and colleges across the county to collect their A-level and BTEC results.
Many schools achieved recording breaking years with both higher pass rates and the number of students including a clean sweep of A* and A grades.
The majority of students got a place at their first choice university with many going to the country’s top establishments including Oxford, Cambridge, Warwick, Exeter and Southampton.
Chesham and Amersham MP Cheryl Gillan congratulated all the A-level students. She said: “It is your day and though you will have had huge support and back-up from family, teachers and friends, it was you who studied and sat the exams. That is something to be proud of, a real achievement. Good luck to all the students in the Chesham and Amersham constituency and best wishes for whatever you choose to do next.”
Buckinghamshire County Council’s cabinet member for education and skills Councillor Zahir Mohammed also praised the students calling them a ‘credit’ to Bucks.
He said: “My congratulations to all our A-level students on their results. It’s a day full of anticipation for the next step in their education or for their first steps into the world of work.
“They’re a credit to Buckinghamshire and I hope in the future we can harness the skills and knowledge they’ve gained to invest in our economy locally.”
Reasons to be cheerful: Amersham School’ students and staff are overjoyed with their success
