A world of teas at new coffee house
A NEW independent cafe is set to open its doors in Amersham next week.
Jacs, an independent coffee house is to open in Amersham after agreeing a lease with Sorbon Estates.
The start-up business will open in early September in 47 Hill Avenue, Amersham.
The specialist, artisan tea and coffee house will offer coffees from around the world and a range of more than a dozen teas.
Sandwiches made with locally-sourced ingredients, pastries and handmade cakes will also be available.
Jacs says its unique offering is its environmentally friendly approach to catering.
It offers ethically sourced products and all takeaway packaging is 100 per cent recyclable and biodegradable. Instead of selling water bottles, the shop will offer a filtered water point to reduce the amount of plastic being disposed in landfill.
Customers will be encouraged to make a donation to help fund clean drinking water in Africa.
The coffee shop’s interior will also reflect its sustainable roots, with upcycled furniture and reclaimed wood.
Local entrepreneur and owner of Jacs Peter Wells said: “I am really excited to be opening up my first shop in Amersham.
“The town has a proud history of supporting independent businesses as well as championing good causes; we hope our ethical and environmentally friendly approach will be something the local community will appreciate and support, as well as the quality of our teas and coffees”.
Director of asset management of Sorbon Estates Chris Naylor said: “Jacs will be a trendy but accessible addition to the businesses available on Hill Avenue. It will provide the local community with a social hub, offering excellent food and drink with an ethical message at its heart.”
Jacs is expected to open on Saturday, September 3 with live acoustic music and extended opening hours.
Normal opening hours will be Monday to Friday from 7am to 7pm, Saturday from 8am to 6pm and Sunday from 10am to 4pm.
