CHESHAM: AN author is holding a short story writing workshop in aid of charity next month.
Margaret Graham, who runs the Writers and Scribblers group in Chesham, is the founder and administrator of Words for the Wounded, which raises money via writing prizes, events and donations to help wounded servicemen and women.
The charity is holding a short story writing workshop in Downley Community Centre. Old School Close, Downley, on Saturday, September 24 from 10am to 4.30pm.
The workshop will enable budding writers to get grounded in the basics of short story structure and discover how to target your market.
It is suitable for beginners and for experienced writers keen to explore short story writing. Networking opportunities will be available over lunch, which can be bought at a pub nearby, or people can bring their own.
Margaret Graham’s a best selling author, short story and feature writer.
She is a creative writing tutor, mentor, editor and also contributing editor for Frost Magazine. The workshop costs £45. All proceeds go to charity. AMERSHAM: Amersham Art Group has organised for a watercolour demo by a professional local watercolour artist to take place next week.
Gordon King will give the demonstration on Tuesday, September 6 at 7.30pm in The Lounge, Amersham Community Centre.
Non-members are welcome for a £4 entrance fee which includes tea/ coffee.
The group’s new 2016/2017 programme has also been announced.

CHESHAM: Chesham Environmental Group is holding a working party next month.
On September 7, volunteers will be cutting back vegetation to widen the footpath behind the industrial units, off Moor Road. They will also be litter picking in the area. Volunteers are asked to wear appropriate clothing and gloves. Tools, litter pickers and black bags will be provided. Meet at 10am at the open-air swimming pool car park in Moor Road.
