Pupils ex­cel at Year 6 tests

PUPILS in Bucks av­er­age some of the high­est scores in Eng­land for read­ing skills.

The av­er­age score for read­ing for pupils in the county was 105, one of the high­est av­er­ages in Eng­land. In Bucks 56% of pupils reached the ex­pected level in read­ing, writ­ing and maths in this year’s Key Stage 2 tests.

In 2016, the na­tional cur­ricu­lum in­tro­duced by the Gov­ern­ment to be more chal­leng­ing was as­sessed for the first time.

Across Eng­land, 53% of pupils reached the new ex­pected stan­dard of 100 read­ing, writ­ing and maths in 2016.
