Residents drive multi-storey plan
A NEW multi-storey car park could be built in Gerrards Cross, if a proposal put forward by the council is accepted.
South Bucks District Council (SBDC) is set to submit plans to build a new car park at the existing Station Road car park site.
A capacity study was carried out in 2015 which identified a need for increased car parking facilities in Gerrards Cross and the council now wishes to engage with the residents and local businesses on the proposed plans.
Balfour Beatty produced a design which was exhibited at Gerrards Cross Memorial Centre on Monday.
The revised plans, to be submitted at the be- ginning of November, propose to extend the car park to four and a half floors – an additional 328 parking spaces – with a lift, three fast electric car charging points, secure points for motorbikes, bicycle racks, disabled spaces and trolley bays.
SBDC councillor Trevor Egleton, portfolio holder for resources, said: “We’ve long been told that relieving onstreet parking is a priority for those living and working in Gerrards Cross and residents and local businesses have been the main driver for the project.
Subject to permission being granted it is anticipated that building works will commence in Spring 2017.
