Owners’ anguish at mystery of missing cats
No sightings of lost pets across Chesham and Amersham
A SPATE of cat disappearances in Amersham and Chesham has left owners distraught and fearing for their pets’ safety.
People have taken to social media in a bid to find their beloved animals, some of which have been missing for nearly two months.
Leigh Matthew Hoyte owns long haired Pangur, a black cat who has been missing since October 2.
Mr Hoyte, 46, from Victoria Road, Chesham, said: “We’re missing him terribly. I’ve gone through the ringers.”
Pangur is chipped and neutered.
Mr Hoyte said: “In my head I’m not thinking about it too much, I just hope someone’s taken him to the vets.
“The unknowing is a nightmare. I don’t know if he’s alive or dead, or he’s stuck out in the cold somewhere.
“I just hope to God he’s still alive and I want to get him back. I just want to know one way or another.
“He’s a member of family and I won’t give up on him.”
Paula Western, who created the Our Pets page on Facebook where many images of the missing cats have been shared, said: “I would be heartbroken. Some of them have been missing for six weeks.
“It’s a bit of a mystery that no one’s seen any of them.
“Where are they going? There’s been no sightings of them.”
She added: “It’s the not knowing where they are and not knowing what’s happened to them.
“It’s a shame we can’t get any of these cats back home.”
Caron Masters, who has owned black and white Merlin for the past six months, said: “I can’t bear it, I love him so much.”
She added: “I really miss him, I just wish he would come home.”
Miss Masters, 48, from Hillcroft Road, Chesham, said he disappeared on September 29.
She added: “I’m really missing him. I sleep with the light on at night in case he comes back, I dream about him. It’s horrible.”
Long-haired Merlin is neutered with white paws, pink nose and black beard.
He is also microchipped.
George, owned by Michelle Hewitt, has been missing from Overdale Road, Chesham, since September 20.
He is microchiped and has a black collar with a bell and the local vets are aware and put posters out.
Paul Sheward owns two-year-old Polly, who has been missing for around a month.
Writing in the Face- book group he said: “It’s really unlike her to disappear off anywhere.
“We’re her second owners as her first family couldn’t give her the time and attention she craved.
“She’s a lovely little cat, really cuddly and friend- ly. She was the runt of the litter so seemed really grateful to have found a loving home.”
Mr Sheward said there has been possible sightings of her near to the Belmont Club and also along Vale Road, Chesham. Black and white Sparty has been missing since October 16.
He is owned by Steph Tiger who said ‘it isn’t like him at all’.
He has ‘very distinguishing’ facial features and is likely to be around the Amersham area.
