Feasting on films
Celebrity chef Tom Kerridge is dishing up a treat for film lovers next month as he launches the Pop-Up Picture House in Marlow... and we have a sneak preview of the films and food on offer
IF you’ve ever been to the cinema and lamented over the cardboard nachos and mass-produced cheese dip, help is at hand.
The Pop-Up Picture House in Marlow Old Town Hall throughout December promises to have you salivating in front of the silver screen as you tuck in to a twocourse meal prepared by top chef Tom Kerridge.
A collaboration between him and some friends, the Pop-Up Picture House experience will include a film and a two-course set meal, with ice cream served in the interval.
The venture launches on Thursday December 1 with a showing of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang at 7.30pm. The delicacies dished up will be a classic prawn cocktail followed by shepherd’s pie with minted petit pois Parisienne.
There is a variety of films as well as a variety of food on offer.
Watch The Godfather, for instance, on Monday December 5 and you will be served a mixed tomato salad with buffalo mozzarella, basil and olive oil followed by a beef lasagne with English gem lettuce and salad cream.
And there’s something for younger filmlovers too. The Ice Age screening on Saturday December 3 at 10.30am will see bacon sandwiches and cake served up and washed down with coffee and milkshakes.
Films range from classics like The Italian Job, Casablanca, The Sound of Music and Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, to kids’ favourites The Lion King, Monsters Inc, Frozen and The Jungle Book.
And if you are looking for some festive film fun, try Miracle on 34th Street, Elf, Love Actually, Arthur Christmas or It’s A Wonderful Life.
Tickets go on sale on Tuesday November 8 and are £35 for adults, £25 for children or £110 for a family of two plus two. Tickets for morning screenings are £20 per person. Visit www.popuppicture-house.co.uk for details
