It’s Miller’s time as he picks up Order of Merit

Buckinghamshire Advertiser - - NEWS -

HARRY Miller’s consistently good play over the past eight months has won him the 2016 Junior Order of Merit at Little Hay Golf.

Miller came second in the junior section’s stableford competition over the half-term holiday, scoring 35, and was beaten by a single point to first place by the reigning junior champion, while Adam Larkin was third on 33.

Miller also came third in a medal competition two days later with a nett score of 68, only bettered by George Rocca, in second with nett 67, and winner Junior Dong, with an astonishing nett 52.

Club captain John Blanchard partnered Sue Brocklehurst to victory in a tight finish to the Kay Holland Rosebowls at Chorleywood Golf Club.

They did not have it all their own way, however, as Mike Woodgate, accompanied by Marian Neale and Mike Bowler, with his wife Jane, both also recorded foursome stableford scores of 33, and the result could only be determined on count-back.

Meanwhile, the ladies’ October Stableford was won by Sue Knight on 38 points, followed by Jane Bowler on 33 pts and Anne Lynch on 32.

Gill Konrad won the weekend qualifying stableford competition at Wexham Park Golf Club with 41 points, on count back from Denise Maloney, while in third, with 39, was Pamela Carleton.

Consistent: Harry Miller receives his trophy from Little Hay president Ralph Lane
