ALI Young finished as first British woman home on her international debut at last week’s European 24-Hour Championships in Toulouse.

The Amersham personal trainer (pictured) made her GB debut in the event, in which runners from across Europe competed to see who could cover the most distance around a 1.12km loop circuit in 24 hours.

Before the race the Chiltern Harrier said she would just be happy to be a scoring member of a GB women’s team, but she exceeded all expectations by beating all her teammates, as well as much of the rest of the field of 82, to finish as 18th best lady overall, having covered just over 215km in 24 hours.
