Mary back on screens for fes­tive spe­cial

Bak­ing star joins chef James Martin for Christ­mas show

PENN’S Mary Berry will be re­turn­ing to our screens this fes­tive sea­son on James Martin’s Christ­mas with Friends to share sto­ries and recipes.

The pair are good friends, and pic­tures have been re­leased of the two hav­ing a jolly good time on Martin’s Royal En­field bike and side­car.

Mary even donned cus­tomised leathers for the trip.

Other guests ap­pear­ing in Martin’s two hour-long specials in­clude ac­tors Jimi Mistry and Jen­nie McAlpine and chef Brian Turner.

"Christ­mas is a time of year when food takes cen­tre stage for many, so I’m look­ing for­ward to cel­e­brat­ing some clas­sic sea­sonal dishes and re­veal­ing some new fes­tive food ideas, with an en­ter­tain­ing and eclec­tic mix of guests. It prom­ises to be a lot of fun,” said James Martin.

The BBC have also an­nounced their next pro­ject with Mary Berry, fol­low­ing the con­clu­sion of the BBC’s fi­nal Great Bri­tish Bake Off sea­son and Mary’s de­ci­sion to stay on with the cor­po­ra­tion rather than move to Chan­nel 4 with fel­low judge Paul Hol­ly­wood.

The Bucks baker will host a se­ries which looks be­hind the closed doors of many of Bri­tain’s great­est stately homes. Mary will ex­am­ine the homes with their splen­dour and rich culi­nary his­to­ries, and pro­duc­ing her own spe­cial recipes to hon­our the cul­ture and tra­di­tion of the homes.

Mary Berry’s Se­crets From Bri­tain’s Great Houses will con­sist of six, 30-minute episodes and will hit our screens next year.

James Martin’s Christ­mas with Friends will be shown on the Food Net­work on Novem­ber 14 and 21 at 9pm.
