THE chairman of Chiltern District Council is backing Small Business Saturday, which is set to be held on the same day as the Amersham Christmas Festival.

Mimi Harker and Amersham Action Group have thrown their weight behind this year’s event, which is one of the biggest in the town’s calender and will be held on Saturday December 3.

Mrs Harker is also on the hunt for seven Santas to run the grotto and is looking for volunteers to fill the role.

She said: “The persons to fulfil this role must be full figured, of reasonable height and stature, with a jolly face and preferably a long white beard and thick, curly, snowy hair.

“If no beard is present, one will be provided and must be worn at all times when in this role, alongside the customary red suit.

“In the absence of a suitable head of hair, one will be provided which must be worn at all times in the role.

“If more than seven applications are received, the decision will be made at auditions, the date to be confirmed, and will be judged on the delivery of the customary ‘ho ho ho’ and jolly laugh in a suitable Santa style.”

All applications must be received no later than 5pm on November 23.

She is also looking for sponsors for the Santa suits and for applications for Santa’s little helpers. Contact mi mi. am er sham@ gmail.com for details.
