In November Philip Nelcom gave a talk on the History of Scrabble. Philip had worked for a well known games company and had organised several Scrabble championships, becoming National Champion four times.

He told us how the game was invented in the USA in the 1930’s, with little commercial success, until Macy’s store bought up some games and made it famous.

Recent fund raising events include a coffee morning with bring-and-buy and craft demonstrations. All proceeds to go to the Save Denman Appeal.

A successful Friends Evening, which included supper and musical entertainment, provided funds towards a defibrillator for Holmer Green Village.

Our next meeting will be our members only Christmas party, with a buffet and entertainment from the Bob and Dot show. This will be held at the earlier time of 7.30pm on Tuesday December 6 at Holmer Green Village Centre. Members only.
