ONLY Fools and Horses ac­tor Sue Hold­er­ness was one of the many no­table peo­ple at the open­ing of a new shop in Ger­rards Cross, at an af­ter­noon which gen­er­ated more than £1,000 for char­ity.

She cut the rib­bon at the launch of Thames Hospice’s first shop in Ger­rards Cross on May 6 as mem­bers of the lo­cal com­mu­nity flocked to the high street shop.

A 93-YEAR-OLD World War Two hero and ex-Chal­font St Giles and Seer Green vet­eran was awarded the high­est French or­der of merit.

James Ge­orge – known to friends and fam­ily as Jim – re­ceived the Le­gion d’Hon­neur on Sun­day May 9 dur­ing that morn­ing’s Gov­er­nor’s Pa­rade at Royal Hos­pi­tal Chelsea.
