INEFFICIENCY OF COUNTY COUNCIL
JOANNA LEACH Eskdale Avenue Chesham
THANK you for printing the report on the lamentable response of Bucks County Council to much needed repairs/maintenance of local roads in Chesham.
My particular beef has been over the huge tree just outside my house on Eskdale Avenue– which poses a threat to householders and road users alike.
Despite the matter being raised with the council by myself and other neighbours on numerous occasions over at least five years, we have been constantly ‘fobbed off’ with promises of ‘tree surveys’ which never materialise and zero action.
The continued lack of response to phone calls, letters, emails is disgraceful and I am in the process of making a formal complaint to the Ombudsman.
Nothing has been done to reduce the tree’s size and reduce the impact on road users.
It is hazardous for pedestrians, especially people with buggies – they have to steer around the tree trunk itself and because the large roots have completely disturbed the tarmac, the pavement is dreadfully uneven. In addition, parts of the large branches have been known to fall off in strong winds which poses a threat to the safety of all road users.
The other issue on Eskdale Avenue is the lighting –we are still waiting for a repair to a new light which has been inactive for at least six months whilst the remaining stub in the middle of the pavement still poses a hazard to pedestrians. Lighting on the road is substandard with at any one time at least two lights out of action.
Such inefficiency and total disregard for local residents is totally unacceptable and must be highlighted. Surely Bucks CC can do better than this ?
