BATTLING Chalfont Wasps took a point off title-chasing Headington Amateurs on Saturday – but it could have been more.

The Hellenic Division One East clash was scoreless for an hour, with standin Wasps keeper Steve Nott-Macaire keeping the visitors at bay with an excellent point-blank save with his feet.

The game kicked into life just after the hour, Wasps scoring when Brad Holt’s long throw was flicked on by Josh Urquhart and Michael Green reacted quickest in the six-yard box to nod home.

But Headington were level within seconds, a long ball forward from the kick-off which the breeze took over Wasps’ defenders for Luke Cuff to slot home. That did Wasps’ neighbours, and league leaders, Penn & Tylers Green a favour, and Wasps could do them another one on Saturday when they visit titlechasing Woodley United.
