BEAST’S BRACE ENDS POOR RUN
ADEBAYO AKINFENWA’s double took him to 16 as Wycombe Wanderers stopped the rot with a 2-2 draw at Accrington Stanley on Tuesday.
The Chairboys had seen their brilliant form between November and January vanish with five straight league defeats, the latest setback Saturday’s 2-1 home defeat to Crawley, after Akinfenwa had given them an early lead.
But they bounced back with a point at Accrington, where Akinfenwa scored twice in two second-half minutes. He cancelled out the host’s first-half injury time opener with a header from Michael Harriman’s cross on 56 minutes then netted from Joe Jacobson’s lay-off.
Accrington hit back six minutes later but it was a first point in six games for Wycombe, who visit Grimsby on Saturday.
