Five star safety for the new Scénic
THE All-New Renault Scénic sets itself apart from the crowd with a number of state-of-theart technologies, including active emergency braking with pedestrian detection as standard – a first for vehicles in its segment.
The result highlights Renault’s commitment to safety, particularly with the All-New Scénic, which arrives in the UK later this year. The All-New Scénic stands out with a 90% score for adult occupant protection, 82% for children and 67% for pedestrians.
The new Scénic uses a structure of reinforced steel skirts, side members, windscreen pillars and posts, allowing it to protect occupants inside the safety cell. Parts of it are ‘ultra-high elastic’, with each square millimetre able to resist up to 120kg of pressure while crumple zone steel outside the passenger compartment allows for impact to be absorbed.
There are two curtain airbags for the first and second rows and two lateral airbags in the front. It also has two new-generation front airbags that make use of adaptive technology. Based on sensor information, airbag inflation level is adapted for the driver and passenger.
The Scénic is the only vehicle in the C-MPV segment to offer an Active Emergency Braking System (AEBS) with pedestrian detection as standard.
To put drivers at ease and warn them in the event of risk, All-New Scénic offers Hands-free parking; Lane Departure Warning (LDW); Lane Keeping Assist (LKA); Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC); Fatigue detection warning with trajectory analysis; and Active Emergency Braking System (AEBS) with pedestrian detection.
Renault invented the compact family MPV segment in 1996 and the arrival of the fourth generation signals the complete renewal of its new family car line-up with Kadjar, Mégane, Mégane Sport Tourer, Scénic and Grand Scénic.
The French manufacturer now has the newest model range on sale in Europe. The Scénic and Grand Scénic are each offered in four trim levels – Expression+, DynamiqueNav, Dynamique S Nav and Signature Nav. Each version provides a comprehensive standard specification, rising to the truly luxurious at the top-of-the-range.
All-New Scénic and All-New Grand Scénic are the only vehicles in the class to receive the Active Emergency Braking System (AEBS) with Pedestrian Detection as standard.
Even from Expression+, this high-end technology is complemented by the Visio active safety system providing Lane Departure Warning, Traffic Sign Recognition and Automatic High/Low Beam headlamps. An electronic parking brake, LED daytime running lights, roof rails (Grand Scénic only), automatic dualzone climate control, automatic headlights and windscreen wipers, and electrically adjustable heated and folding door mirrors are fitted to every version.
