Quick ac­tion to bring bur­glar to jus­tice

Crook broke into home on Mon­day and was sent to court Wed­nes­day

John Welling­ton, 38, of Brock­hurst Road, Che­sham, pleaded guilty to bur­glary dwelling with in­tent to steal at Wy­combe Mag­is­trates Court on Wed­nes­day last week.

The bur­glary took place on Mon­day March 20 when Welling­ton forced en­try to the rear of a house on Berkham­stead Road, Che­sham.

He stole elec­tri­cal items and jew­ellery, and was later caught af­ter he tried to sell the stolen items to a sec­ond hand shop in High Wy­combe.

PC Antony Mee, of Taplow Lo­cal Area CID, said: “Bur­glars are not tol­er­ated within our com­mu­ni­ties and we will al­ways work to bring those re­spon­si­ble to jus­tice.

“In this in­stance, our of­fi­cers were able to promptly in­ves­ti­gate and bring Welling­ton be­fore the courts.

“He has now been re­manded in cus­tody and will next ap­pear at Ayles­bury Crown Court on April 25 for sen­tenc­ing.” SIX­TIES’

Denise Bed­dows, who writes un­der the name DJ Kelly, was re­launch­ing her book The Fa­mous and In­fa­mous of The Chal­fonts & Dis- trict. One of those fea­tured in the book is Den­ham res­i­dent Mr Con­rad – a huge star of the 1960s who still pulls in big au­di­ences for his star-stud­ded rem­i­nis­cences.

The new edi­tion of the book in­cludes even more of the renowned and fa­mous from the area.

Ms Bed­dows said: “Ger­rards Cross Book­shop is also giv­ing me an au­thor event in St An­drews Church Hall at 2.30 pm on Wed­nes­day April 12. Read­ers who buy tick­ets will en­joy af­ter­noon tea with home made cakes and my il­lus­trated talk on The Fa­mous & In­fa­mous of the Chal­fonts & Dis­trict.”
