Sister act seals podium places
The time-trial event was held on a 2km climb in the grounds of Ditcham Park School and attracted riders from as far afield as Devon and North Yorkshire.
The Allsop sisters – who attend Gateway School in Great Missenden with seven-year-old Katie in Year 3 and 11-year-old Lucy in Year 6 – attacked the climb from the start and rode strongly all the way.
Katie’s time was good enough for her to win the South Region Championships’ U9s competition and to finish on the second step of the podium in the national event.
The U9s national winner was Emilia Shuttleworth, from Hollymount RC Primary School in Bury.
Lucy faced tough competition in the U11s race and was delighted to make it onto the podium in third place in both the regional and national competitions, beaten by Katie-Anne Calton, from Havant, and Bishops Waltham’s Livvy Nanapoulou.
