Nice weather for ducks... and struggling cricket clubs
having lost an important toss to Shipton under Wychwood on a rain-affected pitch, found themselves in the parlous position of 70-8 at lunch.
Rain prompted an abandonment without further resumption, to the obvious disappointment of the visitors on Saturday.
For Shipton, opening bowlers Anupam Sanklecha (5-42) and Scott Harris (3-22) made the early inroads in helpful conditions and continued to bowl unchanged until lunch.
Only Robin Pritchard (17), Matt Rance (10) and Dominic Goodman (16*) reached double figures for the home team.
Goodman in particular showed good temperament and technique to survive 41 balls.
Umar Aslam also held firm until the interval in spite of seldom locating the ball with his bat, contending he was leaving the ball deliberately.
As rain caused the abandonment of all the Home Counties League games Chesham remain third. All games in the Thames Valley League were also off.
