With so much choice, whether in shops, catalogues or online, it can be hard to decide which crop is best for you.
For many people, outdoor space is limited, sometimes confined to a small courtyard or balcony area. Plus, there are competing demands on that space for relaxation or dining, with an outdoor table and chairs, or for growing ornamental plants.
So realistically, unless you have a large plot or space in an allotment, you should consider growing crops that you like to eat, won’t take up a huge amount of room, are easy to cultivate, and will give a good yield.
