Baxter is number one after stellar run
At Prestwold Hall, Loughborough, Chiltern Harrier Frankie Baxter – of St Mary’s school in Amersham – had the run of the day. She stormed home to win the Year 6 girls’ race, ranking her first in her age group nationwide.
Lesedi Nkoane finished fourth and Marea Logan came in 32nd. The three girls were the first three Bucks run- ners across the line from 252 finishers. Harrier Roxy McLellan had a good run for Hertfordshire, in 58th.
Thomas Redmond, of Dr Challoner’s School, took silver in the Year 7 boys’ race, finishing only seconds behind the winner.
The Year 5 girls’ team of 12 runners secured a silver team placing, ranking the young team second nationally. First home for Bucks was Annabel Insley, of Godstowe School, in eighth among a field of more than 250.
The Year 7 girls’ race saw several good Chiltern performances for Bucks Swans. Rosa Williams finished 25th, Hannah Ashby 44th, Maddie Hughes 87th and Ellie Shield 135th.
The highest-placed Chiltern athlete in the Year 6 boys’ race was Herts’ Leon Doran, in 15th. Also running well for Bucks Swans were Max Baxter, in 48th; Rowan Gawne 50th; Isaac Jessop-Tranter, 120th; Ethan McCall 125th; Alfie Clifford 128th; and Charlie Ventress, in 153rd.
There were also Chiltern athletes in the Year 5 events. For the boys, Alex Hughes ran in 23rd and Danny Carruthers was 26th for Bucks while Callum Powell ran well for Herts, in 27th.
Lily Jessop Tranter and Olivia Clarke were 12th and 15th, respectively, in the Year 5 girls’ race.
