Bax­ter is num­ber one af­ter stel­lar run

At Prest­wold Hall, Lough­bor­ough, Chiltern Har­rier Frankie Bax­ter – of St Mary’s school in Amer­sham – had the run of the day. She stormed home to win the Year 6 girls’ race, rank­ing her first in her age group na­tion­wide.

Lesedi Nkoane fin­ished fourth and Marea Lo­gan came in 32nd. The three girls were the first three Bucks run- ners across the line from 252 fin­ish­ers. Har­rier Roxy McLel­lan had a good run for Hert­ford­shire, in 58th.

Thomas Red­mond, of Dr Chal­loner’s School, took sil­ver in the Year 7 boys’ race, fin­ish­ing only sec­onds be­hind the win­ner.

The Year 5 girls’ team of 12 run­ners se­cured a sil­ver team plac­ing, rank­ing the young team se­cond na­tion­ally. First home for Bucks was Annabel Ins­ley, of God­stowe School, in eighth among a field of more than 250.

The Year 7 girls’ race saw sev­eral good Chiltern per­for­mances for Bucks Swans. Rosa Wil­liams fin­ished 25th, Han­nah Ashby 44th, Mad­die Hughes 87th and El­lie Shield 135th.

The high­est-placed Chiltern ath­lete in the Year 6 boys’ race was Herts’ Leon Do­ran, in 15th. Also run­ning well for Bucks Swans were Max Bax­ter, in 48th; Rowan Gawne 50th; Isaac Jes­sop-Tran­ter, 120th; Ethan McCall 125th; Al­fie Clifford 128th; and Char­lie Ven­tress, in 153rd.

There were also Chiltern ath­letes in the Year 5 events. For the boys, Alex Hughes ran in 23rd and Danny Car­ruthers was 26th for Bucks while Cal­lum Pow­ell ran well for Herts, in 27th.

Lily Jes­sop Tran­ter and Olivia Clarke were 12th and 15th, re­spec­tively, in the Year 5 girls’ race.
