Mourinho tells Ndombele sitting on bench is no drama

The Daily Telegraph - Business - - Sport - By Matt Law

It may not have been the message Tanguy Ndombele hoped for on the first anniversary of his club-record Tottenham Hotspur move, but Jose Mourinho meant well when he said Spurs must get used to having “great” players on the bench.

Ndombele has had a difficult year since joining for £55 million, but Mourinho says the French midfielder will be involved against Sheffield United tonight and has plenty of time to turn his Spurs career around. And Mourinho thinks Spurs need a bench full of his kind of quality to catch up with Liverpool and Manchester City. “When you are a big club and you want to be a bigger club, you have lots of big players,” said Mourinho. “In many other clubs, it looks normal to have great players on the bench. In Tottenham, what I feel is every time a top player is on the bench it’s a drama and the players have to understand that it’s not a drama.”
